Chairperson / Ron Bales
Ron Bales is an Engineer from University of Toronto and an MBA from Harvard.
He worked for almost 30 years for Alcan (a Canadian-based multinational aluminum company) primarily in finance, general management and corporate planning. The Alcan years included six years in South America (Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro) and terms as Vice President Corporate Planning and Vice President New Business Development of the parent company in Montreal.
His last assignment was to create an Automotive Casting Division for North America. Ron has been a member of Anglican parishes in Montreal, Toronto, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Milton, Ontario and is currently attending Christ The King (ANiC) in Toronto.
He served on the Boards of Directors of Emmanuel Christian School and Christian Direction, Inc., both in Montreal.
He and Pam now live in Oakville, Ontario, near their four grandchildren.
Vice - Chairperson / Brent Feron
Brent is no stranger to the good work of charitable foundations, having spent almost three decades of professional work in the Canadian charitable and philanthropic sectors. He served as the Executive Director of External Relations at Regent College in Vancouver for 14 years. He then became the Executive Director of the Legacy Foundation of Canada while also serving as Senior Program Officer at the Bridgeway Foundation, both based in Ontario but supporting charitable work nationally and internationally. Brent currently is the Managing Director at World Charitable Foundation of Canada and the founding chair of The Foundation Office.ca, a public foundation serving Canadian donors and charities. Brent serves as Director on a number of Canadian public and private foundations and charitable organizations.
Brent holds graduate degrees in finance (MBA, Simon Fraser University) and theology (MA, Regent College).
Member / Bob Irwin
Over thirty years’ experience in managing high tech small business companies. Includes technical expertise in system development, programming and product implementation.
He is currently owner of Irwin Investment Properties in the Waterloo area.
Bob is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University and for over 30 years, Bob was founder and president of Tulsar Canada Ltd. In Kitchener, Ontario.
He is passionate about his family, faith and Youth for Christ.
Member / Dave Brereton
Is the founder and current Executive Chairman of the Board of TECSYS Inc. Under his vision and leadership, TECSYS has grown from a start-up company to a leading international provider of software solutions to multinational corporations (www.tecsys.com).
TECSYS presently generates $33 million/year and has about 300 employees. Mr. Brereton served as TECSYS’ CEO and/or Co-CEO until 2006. Prior to it going public, The Financial Post and Arthur Andersen & Company chose TECSYS as one of Canada’s 50 Best-Managed Private Companies.
In 1996, Mr. Brereton was named one of the country’s Top 40 Executives Under 40, by The Financial Post, The Caldwell Partners, CTV Television Network, and Canadian Airlines. In 2000, he was a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young and BMO Nesbitt Burns.
Mr. Brereton is an early investor in Silanis Inc., a leading e-document technology company where he currently serves as a board member and chair of the audit committee. (www.silanis.com). Since 2006, Mr. Brereton is also the National Director of Youth for Christ Canada (www.yfccanada.org) , the largest youth-focused Christian organization in Canada, and is the founder of a fully accredited high school for marginalized youth in Montreal, Quebec.
Dave and his wife Katy live in Montreal, Quebec. They have six grown children and many grandchildren who are the joy of their lives.
